Discriminations and violations in accessing the asylum and international protection procedure represent a systemic problem that undermines the protection of the fundamental rights of migrants, in clear contrast with international and European principles and standards. In many cases, individuals face significant obstacles even before they can formally initiate their proceedings, such as the lack of clear information about their rights, language barriers, or difficulty accessing adequate legal counsel. These hindrances, combined with discriminatory practices, such as unequal treatment based on nationality, ethnicity, or gender, can severely compromise the chances of gaining access to the procedures.
